About Alexander
"Hello, I'm Alex, founder of PlanningFinance, and I'll show you how to achieve your goals and gain financial freedom through structured financial planning."
This is how every episode of the PlanningFinance podcast begins.
This podcast is my passion project. I launched it on December 22, 2024 – my 30th birthday . Today, each episode is listened to over 1,000 times .
My goal is clear: financial education for Switzerland , so that opaque and self-serving product sales finally come to an end.
But let's take two steps back.
I worked in the traditional financial sector for 10 years : as a retirement advisor, later as a specialist in financial and pension planning. For the last two years, I worked as Head of Retirement Planning and Wealth Management , leading a financial planning team.
A secure, well-paid job.
Why did I leave him?
The more training I completed – especially as a financial and investment expert with a federal diploma and as a financial planning expert NDS HF – the clearer the systematic conflicts of interest in the financial industry became to me.
Today I work independently.
In addition, I am an examination expert at the Swiss Insurance Association and a lecturer at Mendo , where I train aspiring financial planners with a federal professional certificate.
When I'm not working on financial or retirement plans, I'm out walking my two dogs or at the football stadium. I've had a season ticket for FC Zürich since 2008 – through thick and thin. Much like the stock market.
I share my knowledge on Instagram (12,000+ followers) and LinkedIn . Transparency, clarity, and no empty promises – both online and in consulting.
Why I work exclusively on a fee basis
Because the free coffee at a bank or insurance company is often the most expensive coffee you will ever drink .
A pension plan there usually costs around 2,500 Swiss francs on paper.
That seems cheap - but it's only part of the truth.
You always pay for both – advice and investment costs.
Banks and insurance companies often have low fees, but high running costs .
A simple example:
You receive 500,000 Swiss francs in capital from the pension fund.
This capital will be invested over 20 years , with 1% annual costs (conservatively calculated).
That means:
👉 Approximately 100,000 Swiss francs in fees over 20 years .
They earn nothing from pension payments.
However, this is the case with capital withdrawals - as the previous example shows.
So you can imagine what such a "neutral" pension plan ultimately looks like.
And that's exactly the point:
What starts as a 2,500 franc pension plan often ends up with six-figure ongoing costs .
Simplified calculation example to illustrate possible cost effects. No guarantee and no general statement.
Therefore, I work exclusively on a freelance basis .
No product sales. No commissions. No conflicts of interest.
More expensive at first – cheaper in the long run. And above all, honest.
I am happy to offer second opinions .
300 francs per hour , with a fixed cost ceiling before the start .
